June Sekiguchi, Water Flow

Bio
June Sekiguchi was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She lives in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Seattle with a studio practice in sculpture and installation. In 2017 Sekiguchi traveled to Cambodia, Laos and Morocco on an Artist Trust Fellowship and 4Culture grant. In Morocco, Sekiguchi taught art to children and staff at the International Green School of Benguerir and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. Sekiguchi is arts activist and advocate involved in social justice issues, cultural exchange, mental health, and elder communities. She has co-founded and participated in several non-profit artist run spaces in the Seattle area and served on the Issaquah Arts Commission. She is currently an art curator for Era Living, high end retirement communities dedicated to engaging the audiences through its art exhibition program. Sekiguchi is the recipient of four 4Culture Individual Projects grants and an Artist Trust Gap grant and 2015 Fellowship. Her work has been exhibited regionally including the Bellevue Arts Museum Biennial Exhibition for wood, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Sculpture Northwest in Bellingham, Edmonds Community College, Gallery One in Ellensburg, and Vashon Cultural Arts gallery and internationally in Sweden, Morocco and Laos. She is represented by ArtXchange Gallery in Seattle.
