BOREALIS
Projection Mapping Competition

In 2018, Borealis hosted over 120,000 people of all ages to witness the first projection mapping competition in the USA. An awe-inspiring, 30 minute showcase unfolded on the facade of MOHAI. 6 different countries came to Seattle to light up MOHAI with their creative projection MAPPING concepts. Amongst the judges was the producer of the oldest Light Festival in the World, Fête des lumières, in France. There were 4 shows a night & every show sold out. Our winner was “Loneliness” by Sila Sveta from Moscow, Russia. With Sila Sveta’s piece, BOREALIS went on to represent Seattle in the world iMAPP competition in Bucharest, Romania (the “Superbowl” of Projection Mapping talent). The crowd favorite was voted to be George Berlin’s playful, colorful work.
